Membership Criteria

Full Membership of Foundations for Peace is open to independent, indigenous, activist grantmaking Foundations currently working in divided societies and addressing issues of peacebuilding, social inclusion and/or social justice.

Affiliated Membership:
Those independent, indigenous grantmaking Foundations that would meet the full membership criteria and who are interested in the FFP work but do not feel that they have the capacity to become full members at the point of application.

Associated Membership:
Foundations, groups or individuals that would not meet the full membership criteria but that have an interest in our work and share our ethos and values. These members should have the potential to contribute to the work of the Network and be active in the field of social justice, human rights, peacebuilding and social inclusion.

Process:
Admission to membership will be subject to applicant organisations submitting an ‘expression of interest’ form available in several languages on the website. If the applicant’s values match the network’s values the Committee will conduct a peer review of the Network. Decisions on membership will be made at the Annual General Meeting.

Members:
At present, ten foundations are full members. They are: AlvarAlice Foundation (Columbia); Dalia Association (Palestine); Dalit Foundation (India); Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (Northern Ireland); IndonesiaUntuk Kemanusiaan (Indonesia); Manusher Jonno (Bangladesh); Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (Sri Lanka); Reconstruction Women’s Fund (Serbia); Taso Foundation (Georgia) and TEWA (Nepal).

Expansion of Membership
In pursuance of our objectives the steps taken towards membership expansion are:

• Preliminary research mapping conflict ridden societies
• Identifying potential indigenous grantmakers addressing the conflict
• Interaction with such grantmakers
• Peer review of interested applicants
• Responding to requests for membership from interested individuals
